Cryptnos

For the time being, Cryptnos has an entire whopping development team of one: myself, Jeffrey T. Darlington, probably best known as the cartoonist behind General Protection Fault. Yes, that’s a very lonely thing. However, should we get any contributions from others, whether it be code, translations, beta testing, or just general ideas and encouragement, we’ll be happy to acknowledge those helpful folks here. (And yes, I’m using the royal “we” here until a more common “we” can be established.)

Cryptnos for Windows, Android, and Java make use of the Legion of the Bouncy Castle Crypto API for both C# and Java. We use this library to include a number of cryptographic hash and encryption algorithms that are not natively included in the standard platform libraries. As such, we have not included all of the Bouncy Castle API in each application, but only the code necessary to support the included algorithms. The Bouncy Castle API is released under the following license:

Cryptnos Online uses JavaScript implementations of various cryptographic hashes taken from numerous sources. All of these implementations have been released under a BSD license and are freely available. Contributors include (but may not be limited to): Paul Johnston, Greg Holt, Andrew Kepert, Ydnar, Lostinet, Angel Marin, Jeremy Lin, and other anonymous contributors.

The Cryptnos icon was a freely-available SVG graphic we found online; here is a link to that file. Unfortunately, we can’t remember exactly where we found it, and the file does not include any metadata to help us identify the original artist. We would love to give credit where credit is due. If you are the original artist, please drop us a line and let us know.
